I’m Mike Dancy, and I’ve spent years creating videos about the products, technology and situations that affect everyday life.

ThinkVideo started with a simple idea: before you spend your money on something, you should be able to see how it actually works.

There’s no shortage of product reviews online. There are also plenty of videos that simply repeat the manufacturer’s specifications, show a few pretty shots of a product and call it a review. That’s not what I want ThinkVideo to be.

I test products in the real world.

That means installing dashcams in actual vehicles, using cameras in real homes, testing accessories on the road, trying products in situations where they are actually needed, and paying attention to the little things that don’t show up on a specification sheet.

Dashcams are at the heart of ThinkVideo.

I’ve spent years watching and analyzing real-world driving situations, and that experience has given me a different perspective on automotive technology. A dashcam isn’t just another piece of electronics. It can provide evidence after an accident, capture what happens on the road and, with the right features, give drivers an extra level of security and peace of mind.

I’ll test image quality, night performance, parking mode, installation, reliability and usability — not just tell you that a camera records in 4K.

ThinkVideo also covers the practical accessories that make driving easier, safer and more prepared, from tire inflators and jump starters to car chargers, GPS trackers and other useful technology.

Home Security

The same philosophy applies at home.

Security cameras, video doorbells, smart locks, door reinforcement products and other security technology can be confusing. There are subscriptions to consider, different storage options, wireless versus wired systems, privacy concerns and dozens of competing products.

I’ll help cut through the marketing and figure out what actually works, what doesn’t, and what makes sense for different situations and budgets.

Practical Advice

Not every ThinkVideo is going to be a product review.

Some of the most useful information comes from simply understanding how to deal with everyday situations. I’ll share practical driving advice, installation tips, buying guides and lessons learned from years of driving and working with technology.

The goal isn’t to tell you what to buy.

It’s to give you enough information to make a better decision yourself.
